The Three Little SEO Pigs

We wanted to tell you a little about how ObsidianEdge view our SEO services. With so many companies out there offering SEO, it can be difficult to understand what differentiates one from the other. In order to tell you a little about us, we want to share with you the story of the three little SEO pigs . . .  we hope you enjoy!

Once upon a time there were three little SEO pigs, and each little pig decided to build a website and get it ranked high up in Google.

The first little pig based his strategy on content. He created thousands upon thousands of pages of content based on the search terms he knew people were searching for. For a long time his site ranked very well for lots of keywords, and he was able to drive a lot of traffic to his site. Creating all of this content was very time intensive though and the little pig was very lazy, so after a while the quality of his content started to drop, because by spending less time on his content he was able to make more money from each page, even though the quality was pig poor!

The second little pig based his strategy on links. He invested all of his time getting other peoples sites to link to his. This was very costly and took a lot of time, and he started building networks of low quality sites to get links from. This strategy worked very well for him for a long time, and he was making lots of money but the quality was, well . . pig poor!

The third little pig wanted to base his strategy on quality and was very proud of his site. He created a small amount of very high quality content, and told all of his friends about it, knowing that they would link to him. He spent some of his time building high quality links, and continued doing this as his site expanded. As his site grew he found that he didn’t need to spend as much time creating content and building links because people were talking about his site and telling their friends all about it.

Eventually the search engine wolf came along and decided that far too many SEO pigs were building sites, so he started to huff, and he started to puff. First he blew away all of the low quality content he could find, because he knew that searchers didn’t want to see content that they had seen a hundred times before, and the first pigs’ site blew down.

Then he blew away all of the low quality links, because what good was a recommendation if it was bought or irrelevant? The second little pigs site blew down.

The first SEO pig and second SEO pig ran to the third SEO pig for advice. Their sites had been doing just fine and they were angry at the search engine wolf for taking away the sites they had worked so hard on. ‘It’s not fair’ they complained, and they got very upset at the third SEO pig, because his site was growing and doing very well still. ‘Why hasn’t the search engine wolf come for you?’ they asked.

The third SEO pig simply smiled, “I did a little of everything” he said, “and I did it because I wanted my site to be the best site there ever was.”

At ObsidianEdge we see ourselves as the third pig, we don’t take a single approach to SEO, and we don’t use a single technique to achieve search engine rankings, we know that the search engines view all of the aspects of their algorithm as a single harmonious entity, and so do we, meaning that no individual change ever blows our sites over!
